TheBahamasWeekly.com Named Marathon Bahamas Media Partner

The marathon, now in its 7th year, will take place on January 17, 2016.

Each year, thousands of international runners from all four corners of the globe descend on The Bahamas for the event, which is now a staple on the sports tourism calendar.

The annual event provides much-needed revenue for the tourism industry during the month of January, which is typically a slow period.

“Marathon Bahamas is thrilled to partner with TheBahamasWeekly.com. It’s an incredible, high-traffic website that has grown in spades since its debut in 2006. This partnership is crucial as it will ensure that Marathon Bahamas gets maximum exposure, particularly in the online community,” said Sunshine Insurance Marketing Coordinator and Marathon Bahamas PR Chair, Rogan Smith.

“We couldn’t pay for the type of exposure they are giving us. We’re just so pleased that they were open to the partnership and we look forward to an incredible working relationship in the years to come.”

Editor and Co-founder of TheBahamasWeekly.com, Robbin Whachell explained why her company decided to partner with Marathon Bahamas.

“We’ve been watching the growth of Marathon Bahamas, and are very impressed with its progress. The event attracts participants from all over the world, not unlike our website which is read around the globe. We knew the partnership would be a perfect fit,” she said.

“TheBahamasWeekly.com is looking forward to working with the Sunshine Insurance Race Weekend, as we pride ourselves in partnering to support worthy causes and major events that shed good light upon The Bahamas internationally.”

TheBahamasWeekly.com averages seven million hits per month, with articles appearing within minutes on Google. The site is in the top position for “Bahamas news and events.”

Subscribers receive the site’s top 70 stories of the week, each and every Friday.

Site webmaster and co-founder, David Mackey noted that TheBahamasWeekly.com has grown exponentially over the years and now has over 40,000 articles.

“In the fall of 2015, we’ll be celebrating nine years. We’ve come a long way and it’s incredible that Robbin’s move to Canada in 2011 has actually increased our productivity. The time difference of three hours between the countries also affords their news team a longer work day and usually allows them first crack at breaking stories.”

He noted that TheBahamasWeekly.com is undergoing a “total site makeover,” and has made technological and major speed advancements to improve the surfing experience.

TheBahamasWeekly.com is operated out of offices in Grand Bahama and Canada and shares its stories through major social media sites like Facebook, Twitter, Google+ and LinkedIn.

The Sunshine Insurance Race Weekend (SIRW) takes place on January 16-17, 2016.

The two-day event kicks off with the Susan G. Komen Bahamas Race for the Cure®. Registration for the marathon is now open.
